The Woman

Some of you have requested more information about The Woman that I mentioned in my previous post. Well you asked....

I had a previous notion that The Woman wasn't that bad after all and others may have been too hard on her with their opinions. I'm so sorry and deaply regret any previous judgements.

You know the saying "you don't really get to know a person until you've lived with them"? Well we didn't live with The Woman for the past week but lived next door to her.

Day 1 - 3 included lectures every time you were within listening distance about what she considered to be modest and what she considered to be appropriate dress for women. Recently our pastor preached on women wearing pants and three weeks later she was still boiling over the issue. I say if she is that upset about it then she is being convicted over it. She should either change or get over it. She wants to wear pants and doesn't like to be called "a cross dresser". Pastor did mention at the end of his sermon that what women chose to wear was their choice, he was just trying to point out the scriptures point of view. She obviously missed that part.

Day 1- 7 included speaches on her sons behaviour and what good kids they were. The little brats. She wasn't in the boat to hear the older one say to the younger "shut up you little kid", etc, etc. I was ready to haul off and punch him one. All father did was say the older ones name....like that had great effect.

Day 5 included a speach on how we are not to spank our children. Not that we had to...they were angels compared to the others. She was appalled to hear that the children may get a rap across the knuckles at the supper table if they are not behaving. Husband also mentioned that if children misbehave you can hold their head under water for up to two minutes before brain damage occurs. (Of course he would not do that) But you should have seen the look on The Womans face...priceless.

Day 1 - 7 included none stop talking. How annoying. All I wanted was peace and quite....not constant babble. Blah, blah, blah......

Day 6 we witnessed The Womans reprimand of her husband in front of everyone over their childrens behaviour. Poor husband can't wear the pants in the family because he is not allowed. I felt bad for him.

You had to ask about the Woman. Now you know the rest of the story. But we had a good time...really!

We're Back

Back from our weeks holidays. We had a good time despite the fact that we went with three other families...one of which contained the woman. The fishing was slow at the beginning of the week but by mid week it picked up. I figure that between the four families we cleaned around 900 fish. One morning alone we caught and cleaned just over 250 fish. Now that's good eatin'.

We caught perch, bass, pickeral, and sunfish. I didn't realize that sunfish were such good eating. Husband doesn't like cleaning them though.

The kids had fun swimming, water skiing, tubing and knee boarding.

I went fishing with either my family or the womans family. Slap me up side the head next year would ya?! I have never experienced such badly behaved children. Oh well, that over for another year.

Hmmmmm....?

If quizzes are quizzacal .....then what are tests?

We're Leaving.........

Yes!!!........We are leaving...but not on a jet plane. We are hoping to leave bright and early tomorrow morning. At about 4:00am. Yep, you can't get me up at that hour to go to work but if it's to leave for vacation then I'm game.

We are heading to a cottage resort for a week of good times and hopfully great fishing. We have not been to this place before but friends have recommended it. As a matter of fact we are going with these friends to this resort. We are going with three other families from church so it should be a fun time....or total chaos. You see, there will be eight adults and 13 kids. I'll have to let you know about the chaos part when we get back.

I am excited about the trip. Especially since it does not include a tent and has flush toilets. I hate sleeping in a tent. You go to bed freezing and wake up sweating from the morning son. The flush toilets is also a great thing for Bryan. I don't mind an out house but he absolutely hates them. Last year when we went away we had to use an out house. Because of this his body would absolutely shut down. Whenever we went into town he would always dissapear into the washroom for at least 20 minutes. Poor kid. The good side of this was that I would try to go into town shopping at least every other day. :)

We are 80% packed. Just the clothes and freezer stuff left. Yaaaa!!

Flower Bed

Before After

I was finally able to add the pictures of my flower bed.

I know it doesn't look like much now, but I'm hoping it will florish into something beatiful.
And, no I'm not for hire. It took the better part of the afternoon to do this and I've got more plants to put into another bed yet.

Spring Planting

I spent the morning re-doing one of my flowers beds. I received over $30 dollars worth of anuals from the kids 4-H leader. You see, last night was their monthly 4-H greenhouse meeting. For this meeting the members had to do the flowers beds at a local museum. Well, not that local - it took us about 45 minutes to drive there. After all was said and done the leader had many plants left over so she started giving me some. She is a very generous lady, and the kids like her alot.

Now I have a beautiful flower bed beside the garage and many plants left over. So I guess I'm not done yet.

I've been trying to add pictures to this post but it is taking a very long time. Perhaps next time when I have more time.

Mouse Issues

Yesterday I arrived to work to find that the computer that I normally work on was on the fritz. Therefore, Boss Hog, brought in his lap top for me to use. Very nice gesture right? Well, it was except I had a fight with the touch sensitive mouse. Boss Hog said I could hook up the regular mouse to the lap top and use it. And I did, but for whatever reason it didn't work. Okay, I'm not that good with computers. Therefore, I had no choice but to use the ultra sensitive mouse.

The good news was that I did make someone elses day out there in cyber land. You see, Monday is report day. I have to send out three reports to different groups of people. I managed to do that without looking like an idiot. But I also wanted to respond to an email that I had received. The first time I tried that I ended up returning the original email with no text. Then I finally got it right and sent the message that I wanted to. Meanwhile, Staci, wrote back "?". I then had to explain this next mouse thing to her. I finally got it all straightened out and she got a laugh out of the situation.

So I thought I was getting really good with the new mouse so I tried to send Boss Hog a reply to one of his emails. Again, I sent him a reply with no text. The next email I ended up sending back to myself (don't ask me how I did that because I can't figure it out). Finally, on the third try I got it right.

I sure hope my computer is back when I return to work on Wednesday.

Ester

Another 4-H Saturday. We started the morning with an apple 4-H meeting. We all made pies, apple of course, and did some judging of apples and pencils. This took up our whole meeting. No not together. They had to judge four apples and four pencils, seperately.

This afternoon Bobbie, Princess Weah and I went to work with their 4-H calves at their leaders home. Just as we got there it started to rain. Princess Weah had her calf on the halter so she brought her into the barn. Bobbie's calf was still in the field so we didn't brave the rain to catch her. Good thing too!! Because in 15 minutes we received 6/10 of rain. I think that means just over 1/2 inch in english. Why is rain measured in 10th's?

Princess Weah was able to work with her calf for about 20 minutes, which is long enough for the first time on a halter (for both of them). By the way the chosen name for the little Jersey is Ester. Still no picture of her though. What kind of a scrapbooking mother am I?! Perhaps, next time.

Day Off!!

I'm so glad that I get every Friday off. It is the one day of the week that I can count on to get the 'little' things done.

This morning after dropping the kids off at school I went out to breakfast with a couple of the girls. Not that I needed to eat another breakfast but the pancakes were good....with lots of syrup.

Then I went for my 7 week hair doo. Yes, I have to go every seven weeks. If I can see the gray then what is everyone else thinking? She looks so old....and the wrinkles don't help either.

Today I also started my yearly monitoring of cherry orchards for insects and disease. Yes, I do get paid to look for bugs. Not a bad deal, except I came across the fierest looking wasp that was building a nest in a tree. I'll have to remember not to go back to that location next time. I also saw two deer standing in the middle of the road. I do enjoy driving around and seeing the local wildlife.

I also did some shopping today for a friend who's daughter just had triplets, OY!

Then it was time to pick up the kids from school again....so my day to myself was shot.

I'm Back

This past weekend I was away on a Ladies Retreat. I know that was five days ago but better late than never.

We had a fabulous time. It is really neat to get together with that many women of like faith. I get that goose bump feeling when I think about the harmony in the room when we are all singing the choruses.

We started our Friday with a light lunch in the gym of Faithway Baptist Church in Ajax. What a great way to start a weekend away......White Chocolate and Macadamia Nut Cookies !!!

Our first session was "Be A Sarah: A Vessel of Honour"
Our speaker gave us all an assignment (can tell she is a teacher) to list the five positive qualities that your husband, father or fiance has:

Since I am married here are the five positive qualities my husband has:

1. he's a hard worker (he's been up since 4:30 this morning doing farm work and won't crash until 11:00 tonight....yesterday he was up at 3:00am. Farming...long hours....it's that time of year.)

2. he's good at fixing things (not that I break alot but it comes in very handy when the van does need attention)

3. he's is a good providor for our family

4. he's good with the children

5. he puts up with me and loves me for who I am

The next workwhop I attended was "He's not a Jughead". It was a session on "what a husband needs". I learned that most men would rather live their lives feeling unloved and lonely than disrespected and unreverenced. WOW. Where a woman would be the opposite.
Men need to feel appreciated, accepted and adored. The speaker made a comment that hit home for me. She said "men enjoy it when a women is in the same room with them, even if they don't communicate". That brought back a time to me when I was complaining to Husband about spending so much time in the garage working on his car. His responce was "well you can come out to the garage and sit there with me". Boring, I know, but that is his way of feeling acceptance.
We were also told that we are to get to know his likes and dislikes and participate in those interests. So I guess I will be spending more time working on the car. YUCK....but if it makes him happy. Come to think of it I did help him with the car just last week. I had to hold the rachet while he tightened a bolt under the car. At least he didn't send me under the car.

For supper that night we had a fabulous chocolate bundt cake (and I don't like chocolate cake). So here is the recipe:

Double Chocolate Bundt Cake
1 package (about 18 oz) chocolate cake mix
1 package instant chocolate pudding mix
4 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup oil
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
powdered sugar

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray 10-inch bundt or tube pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Beat cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, water, sour cream and oil in large bowl with electric mixeer at medium speed until ingredients are blended. Stir in chocolate chips; pour into prepared pan.
3. Bake 55- 60 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. Cool 1 hour in pan on wire rack. Invert cake onto serving plate; cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
Makes 10 -12 servings.
