wonders never cease

I don't know how some people can cash their paycheck at the end of the week.

It really puzzles me how they can justify their lack of work and work ethics and think that they deserve the right to get paid for non-work.

The girl at work continues to be a detriment to my happiness.

Once again this morning there was laundry in the hamper - she is the first one to arrive at work.

This afternoon she took her afternoon break at 2:00 - 2:40. After all she has to have a break at that time because she is done work at 3:15.

As I left at 3:10 I turned to look in the smoke room door and there she was having another smoke break. She turned to see me and very quickly jumped up from her chair and disappeared into the shadows. Anything to hide you think?

Not only is she stealing from the company but she is also an encouragement to others to join her in the smoke room.

I don't think she will be reprimanded for her behaviour because Ellap enjoys flirting with her.

Dilemma

I know you have not heard from me in a while...but here is goes.

So much has happened since I last wrote. But I'll spare you the boring details and go straight to the heart of the matter.

Something is really bothering me. Don't know if you can help but knowing that you are listening will make me feel better. As will telling you this and getting it off my chest.

My dilemma is work. There I said it, what more do you need to know.

I like my work. I like the fact that I have a long weekend every week. I like the fact that I am able to take my children to school every morning and pick them up every afternoon. I like the fact that I get doughnuts every Wednesday. I like the fact that I have my own office. I like that my computer has two monitors. I like having high speed internet. I like having some responsibility with my position. I like working in air conditioning in the summer time. I like working in a heated office in the winter. I like being able to work from home if one of the children is sick. I like being able to come and go as I please (within reason and not that I've ever really done that).

So what's the problem you ask? Well...let me tell you.

I don't like having to pick after other people. One of the girls at work who showers in ahead of me does not do laundry. (for those that don't know, I shower at work, to go to work). Therefore, there is dirty laundry in the hamper and I have to walk it to the washing machine.

I don't like having to fill the shampoo and soap dispensers at work. The one girl at work will not take the time to fill them. They can go empty for three days and she will not fill them. She would rather place bottles of shampoo etc. on the shower floor and use them. This drives me nuts because that is what I bought dispensers for.

I don't like not have a towel to dry off with. The one girl will use the last available towel and not replenish the supply.

I don't like not having a lunch break during the day only to watch others take an hour lunch when they are only getting 1/2 hour deducted from thier paycheck.

I don't like not getting two 15 minute breaks during the day only to watch others take 2 - 45 minute breaks, which they are getting paid for.

I don't like smelling cigarette smoke in the hallways. The smoke room is at the other end of the building. Yet, the one girl continues to smoke in the back office and it's not even break time.

My dilemma is:

Yes, I do like my job but I'm getting tired.

I'd really like to end my employment with the company but the top boss and his wife are personal friends and I don't want to have hurt feeelings between us.

I also worry that if I were gone they wouldn't be able to find anyone to replace me. That sounds rather opinionated but I also have 5 years of knowledge that can't be replaced overnight.

So what should I do?
